But it was a little more satisfying than that for him I think... Do birds do that??

I think there must be some problem with the global registration system because after they told me Blackricco was already taken, just for

You do have to be VERY careful to uncheck ALL the "would you like us to spam you?" boxes when you create an account. There are a few
"hidden" ones, so look closely.
I fixed it so you can read and post without logging in - but if you don't register, then ANYONE can use your name - or even register it in
your place and keep YOU from using it.
It ain't rocket science, but it is a real hassle to get registered at first.

I hate to sound defeatist, but even though many of us will stay in touch, the element of real debate will be gone.
Time magazine is a respected (mostly) organization, whose sponsorship of the site gave it gravity and a sense of a real "Babylon 5" here
on the net. Without Time's sponsorship, anything else we do will be just another community.
In order to find true debate we will have to go to another respected news agency's site to find opposing viewpoints.
We all know that Time (and the entire site's management) is making a serious mistake in eliminating these boards. I only hope they
come to their senses. There are many ways in which this site could become self-supporting.

near future. It's been great meeting people and carrying on discussions of economics, finance, and politics here at FORTUNE.com.
Nothing online ever truly disappears, so we may all meet again in some future reincarnation of our cybercommunity. You can still keep
up with FORTUNE's writers and columnists at FORTUNE Home Page I'll try to give everyone a day or two notice.

I agree with Mike about trying to buy or whatever with pathfinder boards. With all the other message boards folding maybe a pay-to
post board will work. Give it a very easy address for people to tell others about and make it open for lurkers.
I have been on one of the "private" message boards before and it didn't last. These things work like a revolving door with some being
here for a while and then taking a break, others when there is exciting news and some of us are stuck in the revolving door. :)

"Now, you have an opportunity to make each other even more miserable."

Why are you here?
Most of the posters In this thread belong in a juvenile chat room. Add them all up and the last creative thought they've had concerns the
epiphany they had when they first realized what toilet paper was for...
Seriously, look over the threads and you tell me where's the beef...

day I've had in a long time to waste, as I see fit.
Wasting time messing with this twit is what I've picked to do for the next few minutes until I wander off to something else equally as

YOU are here 24/7 because you have noplace else to go. Your wife thanks god you have a computer so you leave her the fuck alone (I
pity that poor woman April 1st), you are the laughingstock at the local neighborhood watch and this is the only place in the world you
can go to. So you are gonna wring every last second out of it that you can.
The rest of us have other places, other people, and other things of interest in our lives. you, you poor sap, you have nothing but the two
thousand names you have had killed because your presence is so fucking disgusting that you are banished as soon as you are identified.

Holy shinola! [Rocket Man 57] - 04:40pm Mar 25, 2001 EST (#169 of 404)
Everything appears to be some kind of competition or contest to poor Jane.
I think it's related to some untold trauma from way back in his/her developmental/toddler years - which involved someone quite
ghastly - someone whom the skinheads then 'raising' him/her repeatedly told her was doubtlessly caused by "a liberal" (or perhaps "a
colored" or "a queer").
Such nasty scars life can leave on children...and that's when he/she started wearing all that Reynolds aluminum wrapped all around
his/her shattered little noggin to keep out all of the "bad voices" she kept hearing - the "voices", of course, that the skinheads (all being
head injury victims - coincidently - of some evil liberals) just blew off totally to poor little Jane - and they simply informed little
him/her the "voices" were just those godless and bad liberal people hating goodness, and - that they'd go away if he/she'd finally quit
the tantrums and just have some Coors with the grownups around the card table of an evening....which, clearly, he/she appears to have
done...this early imbibing ironically only complicated the severe undiagnosed nervous system disorder(s) which he/she had already
begun to manifest.
But -- watching a lot of "Rush" later in his/her miserable horrid life(with the Reynolds wrap, of course) "helped make the voices go
away" just a little, he/she decided...but, alas ~ here was a classic case of one's vivid imagination NOT being a reliable sign of a soul's
overall intellect. At least enough progress has been achieved nowadays, that he/she will allow his/herself to poke out little eyeholes in
the tinfoil for whenever he/she may be moved by God to make the world a better place by typing at the keyboard of that old reliable
Packard-Bell 486 the skinheads had stolen for him/her long ago at a garage sale. Memories can be SO bittersweet, can't they??

group of those with clear animosity towards them.
There are numerous political persuasions represented there. And represented by sane non-wacko people who aren't inherently or
unretractably vicious and obnoxious without visible cause for such an effect.
I am as politically opinionated as anyone, but I must say that I disagree with Q here and am surprised by his being contrary without
rationale.
Don't do a god damned deluded martyr show, Q. Please. You are better than this.

- I agree with the person who said that you can't duplicate this board. It was a good board precisely because anyone could enter the fray.
There's a distinct difference between a 'public' board and one that can accept or deny application based on personal prejudices.
- Yes, Sherry...I left of my own choice...but the very idea that one or a couple people have the right to accept and deny 'applications' to a
bulletin board kinda turns me off. It's one thing to kick someone off of a board for bad behavior...but to arbitrarily deny entrance to
people that don't 'suit' you is quite another.

Being a TIME/CNN/AOL mole on this board it should be easy for you to go back to the old threads and find some on the First
Amendment and free speech. Dave made it clear that he could ban anyone he wanted and did not need a reason. He also
edited the words of other posters at will.

Well, you've always been a hateful old twit, Saber. But now you a liar.
First, I never once edited anyone's posts. Not once. I certainly never altered your offerings. You did a pretty good job of making them
sound like the hateful rants they are.
Secondly, you were banned for a number of reasons, not the least of which was your obsessive interest in oral sex and certain posters'
sex lives.
Thirdly, this is a privately run board. The 1st amendment doesn't apply. Congress isn't setting up the guidelines of what is acceptable
and what isn't. Time Online is.

Sherrie has gone out of her way to turn down no one, regardless of what she thinks of them personally. (Except Bill.) Perhaps you could

- The right pew:
- You misunderstand, 'ricco'. I have nothing against the people at PlanetPathfinder. They are...for the most part...very fine people who
seem to care about each other. I just don't want to be part of a 'club'.
- On the other hand...Timeless (and you) represent everything I'm against. Timeless MAY accept everyone...but those with differing
POVs immediately become the targets of the unwashed RWing. Kind of like FReeperVille.
- Some would ask: wouldn't it be better to JOIN the Timeless 'community' and debate the issues? That would be true if RWingers knew HOW
to debate. My impression of many of the 'imports' to Timeless is that they're a bunch of Crackers who just can't get over desegregation or
the fact that most people voted for the ideology they hate so much. What they can't win with superior ideas and earning a mandate...they
take by force.
- I like Sherry...and OJ and Nessus and Hoeker and Rocketman and Lara and all the rest. They can be as mean as the next person
sometimes...but you KNOW their passion and compassion is real. You're against them because they can dish out as good as they get.

Out of sheer boredom I read the last 200 posts and have concluded thta Sabre Jet is less than lucid. The assesment that he is 'tedious' is
apt a description - the real question is whether or not it this definition is adequate enough to describe this individual.

I originally posted this on the Bill Russell yearbook thread, but the thread was deleted.
Mike, I swear, you are the biggest hypocrite and crybaby (outside of birdbrain) on this board.
You claim to be for free speech whether it be a small outlaw radio station, or unlawful protest. Bill is merely protesting what he feels
was unfair treatment to him by Dave, and you're screaming like a howler monkey for his speech to be silenced, then his person
executed.
Typical loony tunes lefty. Preach tolerance and diversity until someone or someone's views annoy you, then the dictatorial, little, fascist
inside all you compassionate liberals surfaces. You take perverse pride in defending cop-killers and other forms of scum not only
because it makes you seem like a rebel and champion of the underdog, but because it's easy... it doesn't affect you personally. But, when
the rubber hits the road and someone like Bill actually affects your life in just the slightest way, like making this board a little
inconvenient for you, and we all see what you're really made of.
You're no better than those little fascists bastards at Brown University.

Bill annoyed me enough in the past. One night, I called him. I started off by chastising him for his actions. To my surprise, he was a
genial guy with a nice voice. He sounded like my Dad. His wife sounds like a wonderful woman. He explained his motivations & I
explained why I still didn't agree with his methods. But he was a gentleman the whole time. Let's face it people: Bill Russell is one poster

Glencarr:
I understand that Ted Bundy was very charming, too.
The problem with Mr. Russell’s behavior is that it wasn’t directed its putative target. His behavior was effecting people who had nothing
to do with his "banishment" (an exceedingly loose term, in his case, wouldn’t you agree?). And in spite of his knowing exactly who was
being effected by this "collateral damage", he kept at it, anyway, showing not just anger at Dave (perhaps understandable) but his
disdain for the rest of us.
He didn’t give a damn about anyone here, or about the effects of his behavior on them.
That is just contemptible, especially when you consider that he was never actually prevented from getting on these boards and posting.
Treating innocent bystanders like crap says more about him, IMO, than any "charm" he may have exhibited on the phone.
But you're a good hearted soul for taking the time to learn more about him. I don't have such patience.

I would rather correspond with my friends via email. If I am going to spend time on a board, I'd rather go hammer-and-tongs with an
intelligent person I don't agree with. I realize there will be some debate, but the nature of the beast tells me that it is best to not try and
keep this board alive in another incarnation (unless it gets renewed here.) I explained my position on one of these threads, I forget
which.
This whole thing about long-time posters' handles being already taken smells, for example. So if you see my name on those two sites, it
isn't me.

I doubt you've actually been seen on another board; more than likely it's people who are asking about you.
The whole business about handles being taken has to do with a glitch in the log-in procedure at EZ Board, nothing more than that. God,
your conspiracy-laden mind works overtime, doesn't it? :) :) :)

Ferret Mike –
I do not want this to sound like a slam, but this is the one thing I do not understand about your outright hatred for Bill Russell and what
he does here. I look at him like an anarchist. How is what he does here different than what you have done, or supported in the real
world?
You have blocked traffic, preventing people from coming and going as they please. You supported shutting down entire cities to get
your message out. You have climbed trees to prevent people from doing their lawful work, and been proud and boastful about it. You
have interjected yourself, in ways that society does not support, into the lives of people who do not know you from Adam. And you have
pissed innocent people off by your actions. Actions you have taken without concern to the impact of others in the society.
Is that not what Bill does here?

Sherrie- As a long time lurker (95 or 96 I forget) and rare poster, it seems odd to me that you would go to an invitation only board. There
must be lots and lots of readers who would like to read the new boards and may eventually feel inspired to post. Why not post the URL and

I will be glad to answer this after this place is put to bed, or via E mail.
I have simply talked enough this week about the moron as it is. The forum ends all too soon, let's deal with that for now.
It's more then enough to deal with for as short a time as we have to do so.

Fair enough. I'll be in touch in the future. You and I have many an argument behind us, and I will be taking a hiatus from political
boards as of the shutdown. Sherrie invited me to her place, and I accepted. I don't know how much I will be participating there, sine I
have some mixed feeling about trying to recreate what this place is. It's like your favorite bar closing its doors, your group goes and
invades another place, but it is just not the same. I plan to dump by Politics links out of my bookmarks (FWIW, that includes Salon, Free
Republic, among others) Sunday morning. Time to move on, and since I am getting involved in local politics over the next few years (PG
County School Board & Superintendent issues as well as denying Kathleen Kennedy Towsand a bid for Maryland Governor), along with
my family, I have better uses with my time. And to be honest, since I started working for a 'Net firm, I just don't recreationally surf
much after work anymore.
I'll be around until the servers are turned off, then I will fade away into cyberspace...

Civilized Societies Are Easily Conquered [Q] - 08:51am Mar 29, 2001 EST (#350 of 404)
- It's plain that RWingers didn't want a board with a 'liberal' host to survive. They've done everything they could to run this board
down...lying about the host and his intentions. They are very aware of the many Conservative bulletin boards - like FRee Republic - that
won't tolerate a liberal point of view. (They prefer the Limbaugh format...where the opposition isn't given a voice at all.) RWingers
tried to make the policies of this board seem different from any other moderated board. They are not.
- This election has shown me that RWingers give only lip service to the idea of democracy and free speech. The majority voted for the
plans and policies of the Left in the last election...yet our new Conservative government forces a extreme RWing agenda down the
throats of all Americans. There's no mandate for such actions.
- And while RWingers are busy naming things after Reagan and making this a God and Republican- fearing nation...they ignore EVERY
negative story about their own leadership. This is the same leadership that devoted all their energies over the last two decades
convincing their God and Republican-fearing flock that liberals are evil and therefore liars that can't be trusted. Once they got the
faithful to believe this...it was easy to dehumanize and then neutralize the opposition.
- The next step for the RWing propagandists was to instill the idea of a 'liberal lying press' into the minds of their followers. This means
that when any media branded as such comes up with a damning story against a Republican political leader...it's to be dismissed as just
another 'liberal lie'.
- So then...who and what is left to make this RWing government accountable now that the opposition has been effectively silenced?

Q –
The very idea of an Electoral College win and a Popular vote loss had been discussed MONTHS before the first ballot was cast. But, back
then, the speculation was that Gore would lose the Popular vote but prevail in the Electoral College, and the Left anticipated that outcome
like someone waiting for his steak to come out of the Kitchen in Ruth’s Chris. It did not work out that way. Hell, even some on this board
were predicting that Bush would not even carry his home state. Now, who did not carry his home state?
Both Bush and Gore campaigned with one goal in mind, getting the needed Electoral College votes to win the Presidency.
And, also remember that in the 2 prior two Presidential Elections, More people voted AGAINST the Left agenda than voted FOR it. Clinton
NEVER had a mandate either, based upon your criteria.
Now, about the other Boards you refer to, they are not run and sponsored by a NEWS organization. If you wanted to silence the critics
about the Host and Moderator being Left leaning, Time should have appointed a second Host who was Right leaning. They chose not to.
And, before you continue to spittle against Free Republic, why do you not rail against Salon’s boards, who do to members of the right
what you accuse Free Republic of doing to the Left.
Q, you have become EXTREMEMY bitter since November, and it shows in almost every post you make.
Nobody has been silenced, especially the news media. But the News Media have figured out one important thing that has escaped you:
The American People are comfortable with the outcome of the last election. They are not interested in re-hashing it over again.

Ace - You are wrong about the FReepers. They refuse to grow up.
Those that childishly thwart online petitions, polls and generally trash what they can to keep their opinion the strongest on out there
are not all there mentally.
If they are as reasonable as you claim they wouldn't be trashing someone else's cyber property like a larger version of our demented
russell here.
Those I must admit watching them do that then scream shrilly at me that us "eco-terrorists" are disrupting a man's right to rape run
pillage and burn forestland.
Even those companies bought by holding companies like Maxxon did pacific Lumber with the sole intent of raping off all standing assets
and moving the liquified capital out of country. They fal to see the irony of doing what they do, and complaining about what people like
me do.
FReepers need to wake up and smell the coffee. I have been out pricing servers, I want hard infrastructure, software and connection
into the WWW.
If JimRob can do it so can we. We are better and more rounded a population then the FReeper herd would like the world to believe.
It's time to make things happen. I promise you too. I want to procecute to protect what is ours and twits like russell will go to court much
as the Free Republic does with there identified disrupters.
There is too much to do that a well run BBS can help cement together if it helps positive elements in society communicate well with each
other.
