TOL Macintosh Rant Pictures Talk Back Blather |
![]() Hard news is never easy to tell. So let's get it over with. On March 31, 2001, TIME Online's discussion boards (as we know them) will come to an end. Financial realities and refocused corporate priorities are the reasons cited. The folks at TIME Online are in the process of looking for other means for a sense of community to continue. They will be in touch before the Final Day. Whatever may develop, it will likely be somewhat more limited than the grab bag of fun and frolic we've engaged in all these many years. The TOL boards that have been the mainstay and battleground for so many of you for all these years will be gone. Most of you were here when I arrived. A few of you followed us over from TIME Online's earlier excursions into CyberLand at AOL and CIS. It's been a good run. We've argued and laughed and fought and bitched. And, I hope, discovered that there is more that connects us than divides us. This has been one hell of a family reunion and I really hate to see it go. Let's spend the remaining time remembering some of the good times, rehashing old arguments and, well, just being together. It would be nice if we could put away the animosities for a while. Or at least dig down deep and find some way to suffer the fools civilly, if not easily. I can honestly say this is one of the most difficult things I've ever done, saying goodbye. So, I won't. In my part of the world, we say, "Hasta la vista." Until I see you again. ---- Dave (McLemore, moderator) |
