GW.... [G. Washington] - 08:44pm Mar 7, 1999 EST (#1 of 2088)
Hello, I'm GW
Since I started this thread, it seems fair that I go first. For those of you who already know me, I beg your indulgence.
I live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.
I'm an editor at a fairly large software company.
I've been married for 21 years, and have 3 kids. My oldest daughter is in college (she's a freshman at Providence College), my
other daughter is in 7th grade, and my son is in 3rd grade.
I'm a staunch Republican. I became a Republican for the first time midway through Jimmy Carter's administration. Ronald
Reagan was the first Republican president I voted for. I must have elements of liberalism or moderation, though, since I'm
sympathetic to the cause of gay rights, and I don't want to make abortion a political issue.
My philosophy of politics is, less government is good government. Get government out of people's lives. Get government out of
our way so we can succeed.
I like sports, movies, and the martial arts. I studied Hung Gar kung fu for years, but I've lately come to appreciate karate. All
martial arts are the same, basically. They're not about fighting; they're about teaching you how to live, and helping you
develop inner peace.
My most admired politician these days is my congressman, John Kasich. I think he would make a wonderful president. Least
admired politician? Mr. Clinton. And I don't think much of his wife, either (though I think she's a hot babe).
Religion? I was raised Catholic, but that didn't survive Vietnam. I've been Buddhist for 20 years, and happily so. My wife is a
Methodist, but I overlook that, since she's a good cook.
Philosophy of life? Do it right the first time, or you'll have to be reborn and do it all over again.
I'd like to hug Holly Hunter, a wonderful actress and a devastatingly attractive woman.
I'd like to punch Ted Kennedy for being a self-righteous horse's ass, and for killing that girl at Chappaquiddick and then being
a weasel about it.
Anything else I'd like to add? I don't think so.
Everything we see is in the past [ensign expendable] - 12:34pm Mar 8, 1999 EST (#2 of 2088)

Central Washington..so far most of the snow has missed us this year!
I work for a radiologist. We specialize in CT, MRI and Osteoporosis screening.
Married 14 years. Two children. Our son is 10 years old and our daughter is 7. Side Note: Our son was born 11 weeks premature and has
Down syndrome. He spent 80 days in a neonatal intensive care unit and is truly a miracle. My daughter is no less a miracle, but was
only 4 weeks premature.
Democrat..but I don't defend Bill Clinton anymore nor do I believe Republicans have a lock on truth and honor. I intend to write in
Homer J. Simpson's name for the next presidential election.
Read a lot. Hooked on Science Fiction and Fantasy..although I'll read almost anything. Taking up roller blades.
I'll have to come back to this one
Attend Catholic church weekly...but not a Catholic.
Life is precious and fleeting. Hold on to your loved ones and friendships.

oWhere do you live? Maryland.
oWhat do you do for a living? Hospitality industry

oWhat's your political affiliation? Independent.
oWhat's your philosophy of politics? Compromise may bring out the worst of both positions, but it also spreads the blame around. The
planet doesn't care whether we live here or not, so let's not provoke it. The fact that I'm right doesn't prevent you from believing
I'm not, or acting on that belief, and that's how you win at poker. A sacrifice fly may be useful, but no successful player ever goes to
the plate intending to make an out. Don't make change from the collection plate - you may need help later on.
oWhat do you do for fun? Play guitar, cook, play with my kids.
oWhat are your interests? History, science, baseball.
oWho do you admire most in politics? Patrick Moynihan
oWho do you admire least? Tom DeLay
oWhat's your religion? Recovering Catholic.
oWhat's your philosophy of life? No one ever lost anything from being polite. None of this is as serious as you think it is.

I'll be 67 years old in April. I was widowed, but married again. St. Patrick's Day will be our 15th Anniversary.
We have no children that are, technically, ours. That would probably require TWO new stars in the East. (My vasectomy and her
hysterectomy)
Together, we have six children, three each. We had seven, but my wife's youngest daughter was murdered in November. Her two boys,
the oldest 6 and the youngest 19 months, are living with us, at least for now. We have nine other grandchildren and my youngest
daughter is 6 months pregnant. We also have two great-grandchildren.
For thirty years, I ran a family-owned company that manufactures construction equipment. We sold to a larger company in 1993. I
won't tell you what I do now, but I'll give you a clue. I have a cap that says, "RETIRED, don't ask me to do a damn thing!"
I'm an Air Force Veteran (Korean War) and a graduate of Western Kentucky University.
I'm a disgruntled Democrat who thinks like an Independent and sometimes votes for a Republican. I do not let some political hack in
Washington do my thinking for me and I have NEVER voted a straight ticket for ANY party.
I have lived my entire life in South Central Kentucky except for a couple of years in the Air Force. I have, however, done a lot of
traveling, mostly on business, but I always stayed a few extra days when I was someplace interesting.

Married 25 years, but no kids. At least no human kids. I do have one cockatoo or, I should say, he owns me.
I consider myself a social liberal and fiscal conservative. After working for several years for a very sexist employer (an agency of
the Federal Government!), I am very concerned about women's rights issues -- particularly issues regarding working women -- but
do not belong to any feminist organization (too leftist for me).
In my spare time (which isn't much, since I have to attend to a very demanding cockatoo), I like to quilt, swim laps, and watch the
outdoor birds at my backyard feeders.
I don't admire anybody in politics, but I really dislike Tom DeLay and Bob Barr.
I'd love to slap DeLay and Barr, and also Phyllis Schlafly and Bev LaHaye.

Hi! Thanks for starting this thread!
My name is Michelle. The "JRTerrier" comes from my two Jack Russell Terriers....they are great little dogs and are my "children"
(for right now). I am engaged to be married this May. I can't wait!
I'm 32, live in Charlotte NC, and work in the Capital Markets area of a regional bank. My BS degree in Economics from Clemson comes
in handy working right on the bond trading floor. It is really exciting.
I consider myself a Republican, but I have been known to vote for the person not the party, and will even admit to voting for
Harvey Gantt several years ago for US Senate instead of Jesse Helms!!
I think government ought to stay out of our lives as much as possible, and I'm quite sure the Founding Fathers did not intend for
there to be "career" politicians. I'm a Southern Baptist and a firm believer in "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I
also think that what you make of your life is your own responsibility; no one owes you a color TV. Our form of government
recognizes inalienable rights given by the Creator, (not given by the government, since the government can take rights away) and
we have the freedom to PURSUE happiness, but are not guaranteed happiness by the Constitution.
There are few contemporary politicians that I admire, but I've always liked Abraham Lincoln. I wish lobbyists could be outlawed,
and that we had more regular citizens representing us in Congress. I also like John McCain (seems like a straight-shooter) and
Elizabeth Dole (lots of class).
In my spare time, I love to play with the dogs, read, travel, play golf, scuba dive, and plant flowers.
I would have loved to have met Mother Theresa. I'd shake David Robinson's hand. He's a good guy. I'd probably smack Bill Clinton if I
could, but I'd feel bad about hitting him later. Maybe I'd tell him to put some ice on it...ha ha ha!!
Well, thanks for letting me ramble. Have a good day!

Interesting thread, GW. Here goes...
Where do you live? - Illinois
What do you do for a living? - Specialty machinery.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children? - Very happily married (I think my wife is too). No kids, thank God. That's probably why we
still like each other.
What's your political affiliation? - Republican, as long as the goofs who think they run the party don't drive me away.
What's your philosophy of politics? - Politics is too important to be left to the politicians. Send some working stiffs to D.C. and the
statehouses for a change. But don't let them stay very long. There's something in the air or water that's bad inside the beltway.
What do you do for fun? What are your interests? - Politics, sailing, golf, a good book, travel.
Who do you admire most in politics? - Everett Dirksen, Ike, Truman, Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln, and a Republican pol from around
these parts, Dick Ogilvie. (Notice the absence of any of the mopes in power now?)
Who do you admire least? - Most of the lowlife in politics today.
What's your religion? - Religion is man trying to get to God (mostly to tell Him what to do). I just believe in God. God's been trying to
get to us for years but religion always gets in the way.
What's your philosophy of life? - Time is our most precious asset. Don't you try to waste mine. I won't permit it.
If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it
be? - Michael Jordan.
If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be? -
William Jefferson Clinton - Lowlife in Chief.
Anything else you'd like to add? - Nope.

Okay, aside from the six toes . . .
Where do you live?
Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
What do you do for a living?
Member of the human race. Perform duties as a marketing communications manager for a marine electronics manufacturer in
order to obtain hard currency.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children?
Most definitely gay. Have been in a monogamous relationship for 16 years. Fooled around in college with opposite sex but not aware
of any children.
What's your political affiliation?
I hail from a long line of hard-core Democrats and carry on tradition. Mom wouldn t speak to me otherwise.
What's your philosophy of politics?
They re all untrustworthy, but somebody s gotta do it.
What do you do for fun? What are your interests?
Travel, spend time with cats.
Who do you admire most in politics? Who do you admire least?
This is a tough one. Lately, I would say that the Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee impressed me most while the
Republican members of same made me sick.
What's your religion?
Atheist recovering from a Catholic upbringing.
What's your philosophy of life?
Carpe diem.
If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?
Another tough one. Of Pathfinder posters, I feel the most affection for Hoeker, Babblingbrook, Sherrie, OJ, Guy Montag, TSean,
Spagz, Rocketman and anyone else I may have forgotten. I think Dave Gin is very cool.
If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?

Anything else you'd like to add?
I m glad to be a member in good standing of the Pathfinder Lonely Losers Club (thanks, Keroba). And thanks to GW for creating this

Where do you live?
West Michigan, the Sunset side of the state. You can't have our water, so don't even ask.
What do you do for a living?
I am a manager of customer services for telecommunications company.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children?
No, yes, yes, no.
What's your political affiliation?
I was once a Republican (I consider it a youthful indescretion), then I became a Democrat. I have voted for Republicans in my life,
as recently as 1996. Now, I am finding it difficult to let myself to have a label.
What's your philosophy of politics?
I was a political junkie in my early teens and now, in my late thirties, I am finding our politicians as celeberties tiresome.
I accept thier dishonesty as inevitable, some are more dishonest, more of the time, than others. I do like to see a good political
strategy form and succeed, however.
What do you do for fun? What are your interests?
I like to read and jog. I like gardening, when the weather is good. I love the beach, animals, computer games, and getting together
with some friends for euchre, hearts, and beers. I am in school part-time working on a Master's program.
Who do you admire most in politics? Who do you admire
This is too difficult. I admire both Bill Clinton and Newt Gingrich for their no-holds-barred political soccer riot. It was a good match,
and their fans were not disappointed. From the begining, you knew only one was gonna make it.
Other than that, "admire" isn't a word that comes to mind.

Hey babes : )
I'm still Liz.....
I live in So. Cal..
I'm a stay at home Mom who is trying to learn enough html to design her own web pages.
I'm engaged, getting married 7/24/99 to my love, Lyle. We've been living together for five years, and we have three kids
(mine from a previous marriage), aged 8-almost 12.
I used to be a party line dem, but got disgusted enough in the last few months to become an independent. I am a liberal, but
not so liberal that I don't believe in the death penalty.
We like to go to the beach on our days off, when we have time to spend together as a family...I read voraciously, tend a
balcony garden, and love to craft. I recently finished a granny square afghan 21 years in the making.
I most and least admire Bill Clinton as apolitician...as a politician, he is unequalled in his stamina, staying power and ability
to save his image. I think he has done great things for the country, and has been a good President. As a man, I think he
leaves alot to be desired. I think he has been immoral, unethical, and plain wrong. He has shown so many critical lapses of
judgement it is scary to think of him in charge of our nation. How's that for an answer? *g*
I don't believe in God. I believe in a higher power...a kind of ethernet that binds us to eachother on a higher level.
I believe we have a responsibility to ourselves, first...to make as much for and of ourselves as we can, because without that,
we have nothing to give our family and friends, nothing to offer. I think we have the responsibility to make the most of our
opportunities as we can, to live our lives as well as we can without hurting anyone else. I think we all have the major
responsibility to do our best to live our lives in a way that we hurt no one else and leave this world better than we found it.
I wanted to hug Monica when I was watching her with Walters...tell her not be so naive, to value herself more, to let it go

Bear Armstrong here. A man among men, and gun enthusiast/hunter extraordinaire. Liz thinks she knows it all. She's wrong
though, I know it all.
Politically I don't know what the hell I am (and that's about the only thing I don't know). Probably a small "l" libertarian. All the
pigeon holing political quizes I have taken thus far indicate this.
Bill Clinton - Impeach him again just for general purpose.
Ken Starr - The democans are just jealous because they don't have someone like KS investigating republicrats. That derned IC Act
just isn't working out the way the democans planned.
IC ACT - It will be a blessing to have bipartisan support to kill it. Billy and the democan congress that signed it back into law were
just too lazy to have the proper congressional oversight to conduct their own investigations.
Monica - An immature valley girl flake. Perfect for Billy to take advantage of.
Born and raised in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, now a content Pennsylvania resident.
An avid conservationist, I am a forester by profession. I cut trees and make 'em grow again. Actually *I* don't cut trees, I just decide

monocultures in my areas.
I'm also a former Marine. Corporal Bear Armstrong at your service, USMC 1984 to 1988.
Despite what some people here may think, I've been described by friends and family as being a kind and caring person, though not
always considerate. In my personal life I'm usually quiet and reflective. I hunt, fish, read, visit friends and family in NY, workout at
the local YMCA, debate politics on-line, and overall lead a rather quiet and uneventful life. But hey, it's a life. : )

This might be a good time to add something to my original post on this thread.
I HAVE shaken hands with one US President, although he was not president at the time. It was Ronald Reagan.
I had just started working for the family-owned company. The company was also a brand-new member of Associated Industries of
Kentucky. My dad wanted me to attend the annual AIK meeting and find out more about some of their "benefits".
In case you don't know, General Electric has an enormous manufacturing facility in Louisville called "Appliance Park". At the time
(1956), GE sponsored one of the leading TV shows, General Electric Theater. Reagan was the host of the show. GE brought him to
Louisville to speak at the AIK Banquet and, I believe, also had him make some other appearances while he was there.
He was a wonderful speaker and I enjoyed his talk very much. In fact, I did something I almost never have done, before or since. I
went up afterward and shook his hand. I told him how much I enjoyed his talk and wished him well. He seemed pleased and also
wished me well.
It was several years after that, I forget exactly when, that he entered Politics and ran for Governor of California.

Two lions escaped from a circus in Texas. They bounded off in different directions.
Two weeks later, they ran into each other. One of the lions was fat and sassy, the other was skin and bones.
The skinny lion said, "How in the world do you get any nourishment from eating these Texans? It doesn't do a thing for me".
The fat lion said, "You must be doing it wrong. How do YOU eat a Texan?"
The skinny lion says, "I jump up on a rock and roar. Then, I pounce on him."
The fat lion says, "No, no, no. You can't do it that way. When you roar, you scare the sh*t out of him. When you pounce on him, you
knock out all the hot air. Without those two things, there's nothing left of a Texan except a pair of boots and a ten gallon hat!"

Hi, I am a restaurant manager in Portland, OR. Married, no kids, lots of animals. I'm an ex-Catholic, I'm sad to say I don't even call
myself "christian" anymore since the politicizing of the word. I am a manic reader of just about anything. In my spare time I keep
reef tanks and work in my shop, where I can build almost anything. Fishtanks included. I tend to lean democrat, mainly due to the
previous influence of my parents. I am never willing to back a bad arguement, and I have an extremely low setting on my B.S.
alarm. I don't have any personal interest in meeting or slapping any politicians. Though many of them RICHLY deserve it! My
philosophy on life: (lately) "The right decision is the best decision, the wrong decision is the second best decision, and the worst
decision is no decision at all". My philosophy on politics: (lately) "It is a blessing that I have again learned how to SEEM."

Actually, Dave
Along the way, some of my best friends (and best customers) have been Texans. At one time, we were selling more in the CITY of
Houston than we were in any of the other 49 STATES.
Shortly after the Oil Boom went BUST, I was talking on the phone to a good friend and long-time dealer in Houston. I asked him if
things were as bad there as the newspapers and TV said. He said, "I'll tell you how bad it is. There's a cathouse eight blocks from here
that employs five women. Three of 'em are still virgins". He also said that his bank was offering new customers the choice of a
toaster or an oil well. They kept running out of toasters.
Here's a story that's true, so help me. In the late 1950's, we were selling a lot of repair parts and maintenance items to the Texas
Highway Department. For each of our invoices, we would receive a check signed by the Texas State Treasurer, Jesse James. We would
all get a good laugh each time we received one of those checks.

Where do you live?
Northwestern Lower Penninsula of Michigan, about 1/2 mile through the woods to Lake Michigan, 1 mile from Brook Trout fishing,
5 miles from excellent steelhead/walleye/pike/smallmouth bass fishing, wild turkeys and whitetails by the dozens.
What do you do for a living?
I work in an office doing a job that I don't really care for anymore, but I'm this close to retiring.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children?
Married 20 years in April, the last four to the same woman (just kidding), not gay (not that there's anything wrong with it...no, of
course not...I've got a lot of gay friends...my father's gay), two sons (15 and 17).
What's your political affiliation?
I think anarchy would be OK, if we could be sure of having decent roads. Otherwise, I'm currently searching for a party. Something
fiscally moderate, socially aggressive, scientifically ambitious, and militarily/defensively sensible.
What's your philosophy of politics?
It's fun to watch, but sobering to realize that these clowns control our destiny.
What do you do for fun? What are your interests?
Posting here is fun. Roller blading, golfing, fishing, hunting, watching sports (Let's go Red Wings!), traveling, cooking (especially
the grill in summer), being with good friends.
Who do you admire most in politics? Who do you admire least?
This is the toughest one. Politics exposes a lot of warts, so it's really hard to truly admire any of them. Maybe someone like Michigan
congressman Pete Hoekstra. While I disagree with his politics much of the time, I believe he's honest. That's what I admire. The list
of the other would take up too much hard drive space.
What's your religion?
Ummm, the opposite of whatever the hell Biker Thug is.
What's your philosophy of life?
I'm having fun and I'm not hurting you, so get outta my face.
If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it
be?
I'd like to have lunch with Steven Wright, Robin Williams, and Dave Letterman.
If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?

I enjoy reading these threads, GW. Thanks for doing it again. (BTW, I think smartalix and guy are twins..they are soooo cute together
- lol). Here goes:

What's your political affiliation? Democrat - left leaning moderate (that's what I'm calling myself anyway - sometimes not so
moderate - depends on the issue)
What's your philosophy of politics? Take it all with a grain of salt..and sometimes a heavy dose of valium (I'm kidding about
the valium, but not the grain of salt :-)
What do you do for fun? What are your interests? I play here a lot. Spend time with my family, do a little cross-stitch, walk,
read, listen to music, play with our two cats...
Who do you admire most in politics? Not many to admire these days, but I will say I admire many women active, both now and
in the past, who have made a difference for women.
Who do you admire least? right-wing zealots like Pat Robertson and Pat Buchanon

What's your philosophy of life? Live it to the fullest; it's short, and love is the most important thing.

Pathfinder, who would it be? One person? There are so many. I'd like to hug everyone here at Pathfinder (almost everyone
*g*).
If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder,
who would it be? That would have to be Clinton and Starr, simultaneously.
Anything else you'd like to add? Not right now.

And I do miss playing D&D from my days in high school.
Room for another geek?
I used to play, too, but probably way before you two young'ns.

I have one of the original DM Guidebooks, and Player's Handbooks, and one of the starter modules from mid
1970s...somewhere...covered in dust......
I think, therefore I am...I think. [smartalix] - 05:02pm Mar 11, 1999 EST (#88 of 2088)
Wow, I used to have the original 3 books, but I haven't seen them in a looong time.
I went to the hard-cover books as soon as they were available. I gave all that stuff to my nephew, exept for one 20-sided die I keep
for memory's sake.
The trouble is, all of the role-playing games have changed so much, I don't think anybody does D&D or AD&D any more.
Am I wrong (please?)
I will choose free will. [cenorris] - 05:09pm Mar 11, 1999 EST (#89 of 2088)
I played again one time about two years ago. Even when I played heavily we of course changed the game. We threw out the AD&D
combat system and used one called claw law or some such thing. There are of course computer games that borrow heavily from
AD&D. A buddy of mine just picked up a new one that seems to use AD&D rules pretty exclusively including the encumberance rules.
Found out because at one point he couldn't move his character.
I can't think of a damn thing to write [FAUFORDE] - 07:02pm Mar 11, 1999 EST (#90 of 2088)
There was alot we changed and threw out. I found that trying to get all the details of the volumes of rules, matrixes, scales, ect right,
during play BORED everyone. So we made up our own and stuck to it. It was fun, we'd play for hours and hours.

Next woman I marry gonna work and bring ME the dough [laklak] - 08:34pm Mar 11, 1999 EST (#92 of 2088)
Good thread, GW. It's hard to stay mad at someone when you learn a bit about them.
Where do you live?
Currently just outside Syracusae NY. Raised all over the place, spent quite a few years overseas, but heart's home is split between
Florida and Capetown.
What do you do for a living?
Independent computer geek consultant. Currently managing a Y2K gig in Souix City, Iowa, which is not as bad a place as I thought it
would be.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children?
Recently divorced, after a Loooooonng seperation. I have a special lady in Capetown, but we don't see each other too often. Joint
custody of 2 girls, aged 9 and 18, they're living with me at the moment. The 18 year old just graduated marine boot camp and is in the
4th Reserve division, she'll be starting at SUNY Brockport this summer (or maybe this fall, who knows?). The 9 year old has ADD, but
is the sweetest little kid around, she's my baby.
What's your political affiliation?
Card carrying, dues paying Libertarian.
What's your philosophy of politics?
Don't Tread on Me.
What do you do for fun? What are your interests?
Been playing blues guitar for about 30 years, I used to play professionally but didn't make enough money to support a non-working
wife and kid. I jam occasionally, but I'm looking for an old geezer band to play weekends. I cook a lot. Love restoring old morotcycles
and cars. Spend a lot of time with the kids and my family.
Who do you admire most in politics? Who do you admire least?
I despise them all equally. At best it's a choice of the lesser of evils.
What's your religion?
Don't have one. Sorta interested in Wicca after seeing some of the stuff posted here, but I'm pretty much a Darwinist.
What's your philosophy of life?
Take care of your own. Lend a hand when you can. Above all don't look back, something may be gaining on you.
If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it
be?
Eric Clapton. I wanna feel the grip strength of a man who can bend a string 2 and a half notes without breaking out the bandaids.
If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be?
Nobody. Now, if I could NUKE a few ....
Anything else you'd like to add?
I wish I could quit smoking, and I find women FAR too attractive for my own good.
[Freedspeak] - 09:01pm Mar 11, 1999 EST (#93 of 2088)
O.K., you asked for it! ;>)
Where do you live? : I live on the west coast of Florida
What do you do for a living? Self-employed, Jack-of-all-trades master of one, I m a master Jack-of-all-trades.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children?: I am male, 48 years old , single, never married (still looking for the right one), and straight
(have to put that last part in around here, "G"). No children that I know of, or at least none anyone tried to pin in me.
What's your political affiliation?: Libertarian, card carrying.
What's your philosophy of politics?: Less government intrusion, more personal accountability/responsibility, and get back to the
Constitutional basics. Beyond that live and let live.
What do you do for fun? What are your interests?: Opened a can of worms with this one. (Where to start?) Camping , hiking, fishing,
hunting, target shooting, reloading, scuba, motorcycle riding, black powder rendezvous, horseback riding, Renaissance Faires,
lapidary, blacksmithing & whitesmithing, leatherworking & tooling, reading, homebrewing beer & wine, cooking, drying &
preserving (meats, fruits, and veggies). Guess that s enough for starters
Who do you admire most in politics?: Currently no one special.
Who do you admire least? Clinton, Feinsteine, & Schumer.
What's your religion?: Wiccan
What's your philosophy of life?: An it harm none, do what you will. Wiccan Rede.
If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it
be?: From Pathfinder, probably Bill Munz, for doing his best to keep the rest of us Libertarians reminded of what our goals are, and
providing good answers to questions.
If you could punch or slap one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from Pathfinder, who would it be? : My
beliefs only allow me to harm another in self-defense, however there are many who I would like to chastise severely.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Cuzin PollyGin-agin [goodygal] - 11:32pm Mar 11, 1999 EST (#94 of 2088)
Where do you live? Just north of Houston, TX. Drove in from the panhandle today and found it to be green and lush with
wildflowers everyplace.
What do you do for a living? Uh....nothing right now. I'm afixin' to, I suspect. Pap's out of work unexpectedly. Reality has
knocked on the door.
Married? Single? Gay? Have children? Married 35 years. Gay? No, but I'm Cheerful! Children? Two adult kids.
What's your political affiliation? Indpendent. Curently a "Searcher"...looking for somebody trustworthy and moderate.
What's your philosophy of politics? Politix stinx
What do you do for fun? What are your interests? Let me try to remember.... <;)I draw cartoons. I surf the net. I swim (or
used to); I visit with family and friends. Currently am refinishing furniture after our son, JL, does all the hard work. He sands and
paints...I decorate. As for interests, I am interested in issues involving the elderly and mental health.
Who do you admire most in politics? On a personal level, Jimmy Carter. On a political level, it would have to be Reagan.
Who do you admire least? You're kidding, right? Beginning alphabetically, let's start with "B" for Bill, then just keep going.
Don't leave many letters out.
What's your religion? Darned if I know. I'm beginning to get irritated by the whole question. I know there's something out
there that's responsible for us being here (if we really are)...but I think religion in general is little more than superstition...I DO
known that this confusion is leaving a void in the deepest part of my being (if I am.) :)
What's your philosophy of life? I'm trying to develop one. I want to be intuitive without being judgmental. I want to be
generous without being stupid about it. I want to be responsible for a bit of happiness for someone every single day. I want to
experience clear vision without being blinded by my own desire to see what I want to.
If you could shake the hand or hug one person, from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, or from
Pathfinder, who would it be? Politics -- ???; entertainment---Bill Cosby; sports---John Elway or Dan Reeves, on separate days;
Pathfinder---almost everybody (almost).

rather not say.

Clown to left of me, jokers to the right. . . here I am, stuck in the middle with you!!!!! [Psyche44] - 02:05am Mar 12,
1999 EST (#97 of 2088)
I was born and raised in the Midwest (Nebraska and South Dakota). I joined the Air Force and saw alot of the world in 9 years. Got out
to keep the family together. (He got an assignment, I didn't) Moved to New York 5 years ago to pick up the pieces from my messy
divorce. Currently live near a small town in Arkansas.
I am a substitute teacher in the school system here. Mostly jr/sr high (one group here because they are so small) Did one day of 2nd
grade. . . never again. Idi Amin turned down these kids for being too terroristic. My specialty is English, Biology, and Math.
I am remarried to my internet sweetheart, just last May. Together we have 3 children, all boys my 2 live in New York. His is still at
home. (mine are in their 20's). I have 3 grandchildren about to have number 4&5 any minute now (twins).
Political affiliation? I don't have a clue anymore. I spent so much time defending Clinton from everything from Whitewater to the
Lindburgh kidnapping, that I am hating the whole system. . . registered Dem, but that will change shortly.
Philosophy on politics? the word "poly" comes fromt the Greek meaning many and tics comes from the American vernacular
meaning blood sucking insects (tho I don't want to insult insects). Therefore you have my philosophy on politics.
I crochet, surf the net, (here and there). I am currently working on a pro gun paper hopefully I can submit it for money. I walk,
tend to the garden, and lawns.
The two people I admire the most are Sammy Sosa and the guy who holds the homerun record now (I forgot his name!!!). They both
displayed something that is lacking in todays sports . . . sportsmanship.
The people I admire the least. . . all of the elected officials in Washington, DC and their political appointees. . . This has to be the
worst bunch of hucksters there ever was!!!!
I was raised a Roman Catholic, tho I left the church years ago because of their stance on women. I still believe in God/Jesus/10
Commandments. . . I read about other religions too. Quite interesting.
My philosophy of life? To love and care for my husband, and be the best for him. . . btw he feels the same way about me too.
I would like to shake the hands of Dave, for listening to all the griping. . . and wardaddy who hopefully getting used to his new lory.
Not much else to say. Nite nite, folks.

laklak and Freedspeak, I am addressing this to both of you because what I have to say is mostly the same. Thanks for sharing. A good
part of what you said is to be expected, but the more individual parts are fun.
Wish you both had been here when Galit was posting; she was GOOD! (not to say that others are not)
Freedspeak, I fully agree with you regarding Bill Munz; he has nudged me back more that once when I tended to stray.

Yep, you and I have been hanging out here for along time. Thank you for the kind words...and I feel exactly the same about
you...I've always enjoyed talking with you, and at times we've even found ourselves on the same side of an issue. You've come to my
defense on a few occasions, even when I've climbed way out on a limb...and I appreciated it! ;-)
BTW, I've seen you and Bill Munz talk about Galit before. I never had the pleasure of meeting her, but wish I had. Guess she was here
just slightly before my time.

Libby [mbette] - 06:50pm Mar 12, 1999 EST (#104 of 2088)
Psyche, I enjoyed your bio...you and I have a couple things in common, I think.
registered Dem, but that will change shortly.
I've threatened the same thing many times and I still think about going Independent at times. Problem is, I would probably still be
voting mostly Democrat, because I can't stomach most of the Republicans or their stand on social issues. I would consider
Independent candidates more often, if I didn't think my vote would just lend power to the wrong party. So I remain with the
Democrats and hope for the best.
You also said you left the Catholic Church because of their stance on women. Ditto for myself...actually I left all of organized religion
partly for that reason...
Glad to hear you and your new hubby are making a wonderful life together. Like I said, love is the most important thing. :-)

Where do you live?
Boring, Oregun (That's how it's pronounced by us locals, NOT a comment on local 2nd amendment politics)

What's your political affiliation?
Reformed republican (democrat)

Our own Gordon Smith, for his recent partisan toadying DESPITE his campaign promises of moderation.
What's your religion?
Catholic. The rest of the church is estranged from me.
What's your philosophy of life?
Have fun. No matter where you go, there you are. Objectivity may not get you where you want to go, but it'll get you where you

OK Libby.
Florida, the SE part.
First 22 years from LI NY last 22 here.
Raising our 5-year old is my current occupation. For many years active adult real estate was my field.
Was independant for years and switched to GOP for '96 election. The GOP holds much less appeal these days.
My philosophy of politics probably is an attempt at defining the best environment for we mere mortals to maintain the most
freedom possible for ourselves given the constraints of human nature.
Our system is so corrupted right now I don't concentrate so much on who to admire. Just about any of us would come up way short
IMO if we managed to aquire a meaningful political position.
Born and raised Catholic with a 2 year stint as a Jahovah's Witness. My father let me stop participating when I turned 14. Been
looking at the subject for myself since my 20s.

being more spiritual. I am sorry to hear that you find the activities of the U.S. church to be a bother... But I also sincerely pray
you find our Lord"
Bill, I just though you would find it amusing that both Oregon jim and myself were raised in the Church of Christ. I believe that
upbringing actually led me to being more liberal. Something about forgiveness, turning the other cheek, sharing with the poor,
loving your neighbor ....that type of thing. How do you reconcile support of the death penalty, persecution of gays, ignoring the
suffering of others and focusing on punishment as opposed to deterence with the teachings of our Lord?
Why right now, Republicans are holding up aid for the thousands who were devistated by Hurricane Mitch. Most of these negative
actions are supported by members of the Church of Christ. I believe they are hypocrites to the teachings of Christ.
I believe I am closer to finding 'the Lord' than all those hate filled conservatives will ever be.

I live in Ohio. I'm a staff attorney for a court. Age: 36-going-on-37.
I am married to the lovely Carolyn. Our seventh anniversary is next week.
What do I do for fun? Read, mostly. Favorite authors: Austen; Shakespeare; Donne; Twain; Dickens; Orwell; Tom (not Thomas) Wolfe;
C.S. Lewis; Chesterton; Wm. F. Buckley, Jr.; Patrick O'Brian; C.S. Forester; Bruce Catton; John Biggins; P.J. O'Rourke; Dave Barry; Joe
Queenan; George V. Higgins; Joseph Wambaugh; George MacDonald Fraser; Tom Clancy; Stephen King; Donald E. Westlake; Paul
Johnson; Michael Barone; Bernard Cornwell; Celia Fremlin.
I also like to poke around used-book stores. (Surprise, surprise.) I have been known on occasion to take the lovely Carolyn to dinner
and a movie, as well.
I have been a Republican since becoming old enough to vote. I vote that way, mostly, but seldom a totally straight ticket. [Insert
joke here.]
Philosophy of politics: Conservative. I believe in free markets, equal justice under law, and the right to life.
Philosophy of life: "O, while you live, tell truth and shame the Devil!"
Most admired pol: Henry Hyde (and I'd have said the same before the recent unpleasantness). I also admire Antonin Scalia and
Clarence Thomas, precisely because they are not politicians, despite the overwhelming temptations that judges often have to
behave like politicians. (Thomas also for his tremendous moral courage.)
Least admired: Oddly enough, not Clinton. I guess I'd have to say Moynihan, Byrd, and Lieberman, because they did what they did
even though they knew better.

You are quite perceptive, surfercicklet. TPS once was a very fun site, receiving 200-300 posts per day. At that time, moderation was
minimal. They suddenly and without warning instituted a policy of heavy moderation and, worst mistake of all, delegated the
moderation responsibilities to two liberal female posters (the killer marsmallows). It is not my intent to disparage those two; as
posters, I have enjoyed a number of debates with both and both have my respect. As moderators, they were faced with the impossible
task of enforcing the following rules
Quite a few immediately left, vowing not to return. Some of us stayed on, mostly "playing" with the moderators to see what the limits
really were. The net result was that both moderators resigned in tears after about ten days and as far as I can tell at the moment,
there is no moderation whatsoever. But the damage was done and you viewed the results. About the only good part of TPS these days
is that they DON'T have stupid pop ups.
Also, I notice that most of the discussion on guns/gun control has gone here and will likely stay there unless NYT really screws it
up.

TPS was a good site but only 6 or 7 people posted at a time. It was rare that an actual discussion would occur. The thing about rules is
taht there will always be someone who tries to flout them. The 2 moderators were pleasant people but they took the criticism to
heart.

Who do you admire most in politics? Who do you admire least?
The list of most admired pols is short, I would include John Hancock (for his brave and bold signature), Tom Jefferson for his vision
of government and Newt for his early efforts as speaker. Admiration of the least: that is a long list headed by Clinton and Gebhart.
Add Sheila Jackson, Barney Frank. Ted Kennedy and other lying liberals and you get the picture.

guy montage, "marfark" is an electronic persona. It was created to carry out a systematic program, desingned to investagate the
potential of the proposal for an electronic democracty, based on a practical humane - ist ethic. This is actually a 'restudy' of that
potential; the first program of advocacy addressed to it having been carried out from the late 1950's-late 1970's.
That first program was terminated in the 1980's, due to the rightward shifting of the US politic. This new program was initiated to
examine the correctness of that earlier termination. Todate it has.
Thanks for asking.

bricklayer [bricklayer] - 05:05pm Mar 29, 1999 EST (#163 of 2088)
Hello, folks. My name is bricklayer. I live in north central Florida and make my living here working as a masonry foreman. I've
been a masonry contractor, general contractor and bricklayer for over thirty years.
I'm married and have been for 29 years. I have four children 2 boys, 30 and 27, two daughters, 25, and 22, and two granddaughters, 7
and 3. To be clear, my oldest son is the product of my first marriage.*G*G*G*
I'm a registered Democrat, but am issue oriented, and will cross party lines at the polls if the best candidate is not the Democrat. If I
were to try to encapsulate my political philosophy, I would have to say that it is my belief that not only is compassion not to be
equated with weakness, but, in fact should be encouraged as one of the higher possible manifestations of people and therefore of
political parties.
I enjoy golf and conversation about a wide range of topics, especially my kids and grandkids.*G*
Generally I admire those politicians who have the courage of their convictions and are willing to buck their own political
establishment in order to go on record for what they believe. When I find someone like that I'll name names.*G* Obviously I do not
admire those politicos who pander to their hot button issue oriented constituencies in spite of their own convictions.
I was raised Roman Catholic, but haven't practiced organized religion for many years. I have studied and continue to study the ideas
of G.I. Gurdjieff, P.D. Ouspensky, Maurice Nicoll, and other followers of the "Work", which has contributed to my world-view and
philosophy of life.
The name of the politician that I admire most would be meaningless here. He has run three consecutive times for County
Commissioner and lost, but believes in his agenda and is willing to fight the uphill battle.
Who to slap. Hmmmm. Tough choice. It's a toss-up. No, I have to give the edge to John Sununu, with Arianna Huffington taking a
close second place.*G*
I'm not completely new to these boards, but haven't posted here for quite some time. I've been lurking lately and enjoying a lot of

LOLOL...Avi...they do make 'toy' type clubs. My grandad was a pro...he made us all clubs when we were tots...unfortunately, they
probably went in a garage sale...these days, I'm collecting clubs he made and they're averaging 150 per!
You probably know there are 'collector' pages on the Net...or, if you know an old timer, you might be able to get at least a 'weekend
set' made.

Teensy socket wrenches? Oh boy...don't have any place to send you for that! My son was 'born' with a wrench in his hand, I think. If
it didn't have wheels, he had no use for it. He grew up to be a dirt bike rider & 'sometime road racer'...he's done the Pan-Am, three or
four times...and finished repectably for a 'shoestring' racer..

Thanks Bear! You're right, he will learn early.
That reminds me...got to find him a little Remington Peerless Over & Under and prep him for Pheasant season (Maybe I can get a
Krieghoff and I'll just use it 'til he's old enough *g*).

I can only think of one other thing that would be as nice to find out, just before bedtime.
That your husband/boyfriend/meaningful one night stand, can lick his eyebrows.
Sherrie said that Dave can lick his, and it's put a whole new light on the pathfinder experience thingie.

Lara, darlin', are you lawnsum lately? It makes me have a sad vision of Dave, thinking he may have a face so squinched and
scrunched that his eyes are that close to his chin. He must have no teeth!

When you put it that way, it doesn't sound so very marvelous, it sounds down right disgusting.

I made, pretty much, that same statement to someone locally a few days ago.
That person said, "Haven't your children figured out what's causing it?"
I said, "Maybe they're enjoying themselves too much to stop!"

Actually, this comes as somewhat of a shock to my wife and me. We weren't really trying to get pregnant, and we figured that with
all the stress of both moving and my dad's heart attack, we didn't have a chance at conception.
Boy, how wrong we were!
Not to mention that my wife's mom had a really hard time getting pregnant, as did my mom. We were figuring that it would take us
months if not years to conceive.
Instead it was days. Yikes!
Guess I've got good swimmers... :)

Guess you do *ggg* My sisters both got pregnant about that fast, too. And one sis had previously had 1-1/3 ovaries removed---they
didn't know if she even COULD get pregnant.

Man, I couldn't believe it. We have two very close friends who wanted to start their family ASAP after marriage. It took them seven
months, and they were taking temperatures and charting cycles and all that.
They're going to be pissed when we tell them that we got pregnant like 3 weeks after trying without all the trying (if you catch my
drift).
And I get "swimmer" bragging rights. *g*

she went off the pill. LOL

Oh Gawd!
Well, my wife's been off the pill for about a year/year and a half now. Since we moved into the house (March 1), we started going
"all the way". I figure she got pregnant about March 10 or so.
We're in for it with the friends... :)
