Life In Hee Haw

OH SON OF A BITCH

One of my best friends, Kelly, is in ICU after suffering a heart attack. They say she is recovering and will be kept the weekend most probably. Oh dear god.

I went up to the hospital to see Kelly and to make sure Pat and Brookelynn were all right. None of them have slept for about 24 hours.

When I heard the news from Michelle that Kelly was in ICU, my heart leaped into my mouth - the news was she had a heart attack. I got a panic attack from hell. I was so worried about Kelly, and the state I was in wasn't good. I felt a massive dread. The last time I had to go to ICU, was when Ken died. So, I didn't know WHAT was happening. Michelle didn't know what was happening.

I got up there, and thank god - Kelly has a serious heart condition but she was moved from ICU to a regular room and it's not life threatening anymore. Brookelynn, her daughter and Pat, her fiance were in good spirits. It's some serious lifestyle changes Kelly has to make, but right now, she is set to have some tests and maybe go home in a day or two.

I had more than a passing dread, these people who are as close to family as I have, were in this situation. I had lost one person out of my family here this week, I wasn't about to lose another. I spent as much time as the hospital would let me, I got gas for Kelly's car, and fed Pat and Brookelynn - food that was available there in the Rutherford County Hospital.

I have a thing about hospitals, doctors, etc. A screaming, horrible, gut wrenching hatred for hospitals and doctors. So it took all that I had to keep it together. I was determined to be there, for my "family."

I'm home and better now. It's been a hell of a week. Really. SON OF A BITCH.

I do believe I said two days ago "Things can't get any worse."

Yup. That was not the right thing to say.
